5 Tips for Preventing Over-Eating on a Diet

How do you prevent over-eating when you're trying to lose weight? In this week's episode of 'Walk With Me' I'm sharing my top 5 tips for staying on track with your diet and preventing over eating. Let's get into it!

TIPS MENTIONED IN THIS WEEK'S EPISODE:

Tip #1 : Slow Down & Eat Mindfully - We often eat our food when we're watching tv, working, or just distracted by something else. Take some time and sit down to enjoy your meal and let that be the focus!

Tip #2 : Boredom Vs. Hunger - Are you actually hungry, or just bored? Idle hands and an idle mind lead to overeating without even realizing or enjoying! Make sure you're really hungry and not just bored before you grab a snack.

Tip #3 : When in Doubt, Prepare. - Plan, prep, & log your meals before you start your day! This is a great trick for those of us who are very busy or tend to do a lot of bored eating. Sometimes it's easiest just to take yourself out of the equation and let your calorie/macro calculations do the work!

Tip #4 : Condense the Calories - Starting up some form of intermittent fasting is a great tool to manage your daily calorie intake! Something as simple as skipping breakfast and avoiding all calories until lunch can give you a much more 'full' and satisfied feeling with the same amount of calories simply because they're condensed to a smaller window of time. Give it a try!

Tip #5 : Vegetables Are Your Best Friend - If you find yourself overeating during your meals regularly in search of that 'full' or 'stuffed' feeling, start incorporating more low calorie foods like vegetables! You can fill a dinner sized plate with only 100 calories of vegetables, it's a great way to fill up without going over your daily goal.
